Professional History
Brian started selling fine men's clothing at age 16. At age 20 he began selling radio advertising and was regularly recognized for superior performance. Brian quickly moved into sales management, general management and regional management in the security industry, including being part of the senior management team of a company recognized as the best in that industry.
Brian won the very first sales skills competition held by Sonitrol, a leading company in the security industry. He personally trained one Rookie-of-the-Year award winning salesperson while at Sonitrol and trained two Rookie-of-the-Year award winners while at Siemens. He was regularly called on at Siemens to teach colleagues strategic and tactical approaches to generate more leads and make more sales, and was counted on to develop innovative approaches to land key accounts.
Recognizing the importance of the internet as a sales and marketing tool, Brian began formal study of online, social media and mobile marketing in 2001. He obtained certifications in SEO, conversion rate optimization, online advertising, email marketing, social media, online testing, and inbound marketing. This training was the foundation for starting his own business.
In 2005 Brian started Right On – No Bull Marketing, a marketing agency helping small businesses generate more leads and make more sales. From 2006-2011, Brian's radio show (Online Marketing with RSS Ray) about online marketing best practices was broadcast on the internet's largest talk radio station. Marketing pros voted the show as one of the world's best sources for search marketing information.
Brian's career as a keynote sales and marketing speaker started in 2007 when he was hired by SEMA. Since that time, 97% of all who have hired Brian to speak at their events have brought him back for a repeat appearance.
In 2015, Brian opened NJL Sales Training, a salesperson performance accelerator teaching salespeople and sales managers how to generate and nurture sales leads using internet tools, smartphones and social media.
Brian's a top rated keynote speaker and trainer noted for effective sales and marketing approaches that work in the internet/social media/smartphone era.
Personal Information
Brian lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. His wife Kate is his valued companion and best friend. His son Nick owns a marketing agency, his son Joseph is in college and his daughter Lilli is in 8th grade. He also shares his home with 4 dogs, two of which work with him most of the time.
Brian loves to hike and really enjoys the Grand Canyon. His other interests include traveling, learning, community service, exercise and sports.
In addition to his business ventures, Brian's an active volunteer at his church. He serves as head usher each Sunday and is a Prayer Chaplin, advisor and part of the Membership Committee. One of his greatest joys is to give great big hugs to church members each Sunday.
